It is not uncommon for big companies to join hands in order to benefit each other. Partnership agreements are signed a lot but the one which has just happened is between 2 of the biggest tech giants, Google and Samsung. The two companies have signed an agreement which puts them in a 10-year partnership in which they will share their patent portfolios.
This is great news as both companies won’t have to worry about infringing each others patents, something which leads to constant visits to the court and large sums of money being spent on lawyers and then on the ruling or out of court settlement which most companies see as the best option. If you don’t know what an out of court settlement is – it is actually when two companies who are battling in court decide to take their fight outside and settle on a sum of money which is then paid so that the issue between them is resolved.
When these issues will not be present, Google and Samsung can work on making the most innovative products with the best features without any hesitation. This contract is not limited to smartphones and tablets, it extends to other appliances and devices as well such as televisions.
