A proud moment for Pakistani scientists

*Dr Tiziano says Pakistani scientists playing leading role in nuclear research at CERN
Pakistani engineers, physicists, software engineers and technicians have been major contributors to construction of the CMS and they have substantially worked to build, test, install and commission the project, said CERN Compact Muon Slenoid (CMS) Spokesman Dr Tiziano while giving a presentation during a six-member delegation meeting of CMS, CERN with Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran and senior PU faculty members at the Committee Room of VC’s office on Wednesday.
The CMS delegation consisted of Andrzej Charkiewicz, Dr Frank Hartmann, Dr Duccio Abbaneo, Dr Paraskevas Spicas, Suhail Ahmed Janjua, Dr Badar Suleman and PU Registrar Prof Dr Amin Ather, Prof Dr Khawaja Harris Rasheed, Dr Shoukat Ali and others were also present on the occasion.
Dr Tizano said that Pakistani scientists had developed detector control system and testing of data quality and monitoring is responsibility of the Pakistani team. He said that Pakistani team also built front-end electronics for the CMS RE4 project and playing leading role in installing and commissioning the RP4 project. He said that his organisation’s future goal was to investigate into dark matter, the true nature of galaxies. He said that the CERN was a global laboratory and an organisation to provide tools to academicians to do research on physics and to explore nature.
On this occasion, PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran gave a briefing on the Punjab University and detailed its research activities.
