Singer Beyonce Knowles has broken her silence about the recent “unfortunate incident” between her sister Solange and her husband Jay Z, saying the duo has apologised to each other, and moved ahead as a “united family”.
An altercation between Solange and Jay Z took place after the Met Gala earlier this month. A leaked video revealed Solange attacking Jay Z in a lift. According to rumours, the fight between the two took place because Solange was fed up of Jay Z’s relationship with his close friend, Rachel Roy. “Solange was defending Beyoncé in the elevator because Solange finds Jay’s friendship with Rachel to be way too close for comfort and it makes her very uncomfortable,” revealed a source, reported Hollywood Life.
However, the family recently released an official statement regarding the incident.
“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it,” clarified Beyonce, reportedIANS.
“Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologised to each other and we have moved forward as a united family,” she added.
Beyonce says that her sister was not acting irrationally throughout the evening. “The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day, families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same,” concluded the singer.
Following the incident, the sisters were photographed leaving together while Jay Z left in a separate car.
