EXPOs aren’t as high-profile as Olympics or the soccer World Cup so for those who are not familiar with it and why it’s such a big deal, in short, EXPO is the world’s fair where global connections are made, cultural diversity is celebrated and technology is shared. The event will go on for 6-months and it is expected to attract over 75-100 million people. An interesting fact to remember the EXPO by is that the Eiffel Tower, the telephone and ice cream were initially created for World EXPOs.
There is no doubt that not only will EXPO 2020 create a lot of new jobs but over the course of the next 18 months, we will see a sharp increase in the salaries across all sectors. The demand will be highest in construction, hospitality, aviation and energy industries. Apart from the obvious advantage of a hike in salaries, there are also long term advantages as we expect the labour laws to mature further. To sum it up, there couldn’t have been a better time to find a job in UAE.
Dubai is not new to expatriates with 95% of the current population comprising of expats. Most of the 250,000 jobs will be filled by expats primarily from Pakistan, India, Philippines and Nepal. Pakistanis are currently the second largest expat community (estimated at 1.5 million) in UAE followed by Indians and we expect at least 25% of the 250,000 jobs to go to Pakistani – that’s 62500 additional jobs almost guaranteed for a Pakistani.
Our advice to all Pakistanis is to gear up and explore the opportunities. Don’t be too picky and don’t settle for the first opportunity that comes along.?
