Higuaín: "At Real I had to prove something I'd already proven

Gonzalo Higuaín is enjoying the new stage of his career in Italy, as he explained in an interview on the program 'El partido de las 12'. "AtReal Madrid I played at a high level for many years, but I constantly had to prove something that I had already proven. I needed a change of surroundings and some new challenges".
The Argentine is happy in Italy. "Everything works better when you have the full backing of those around you, management and players. I'm really happy here. The president convinced me quickly. It was an important decision for me. I'm grateful for my seven years in Madrid, but in Naples I'm living that love affair that all players need", he said.
Higuaín described how his move came about: "It wasn't an easy decision. It was a decision that I had already discussed and considered. The day that we won the league I thought of moving on. There were chants at the stadium asking me to stay and in the end I stayed for one more season. It wasn't a hot-headed decision - I wanted a change of scenery and something new in my life. It's a huge challenge; I want to take Napoli to the very top".
