AC Milan and Man United in transition, says Seedorf

AC Milan and Man United in transition, says Seedorf
The Rossoneri boss says there are definite similarities between the two clubs as they seek to remedy their current woes
AC Milan coach Clarence Seedorf believes the plight of his side this season is similar to that of Premier League champions Manchester United.

The former Netherlands midfielder took charge of the Rossoneri in January after the club parted ways with Massimiliano Allegri following a disastrous start to the campaign.

But despite beating Fiorentina 2-0 in Serie A on Wednesday, Seedorf has struggled to inject consistency into his side, but insists he needs time to make an impact just like David Moyes at Old Trafford.

He said: "AC Milan, just like Manchester United, are going through a period of transition and difficulty, but I'm sure they still have the desire to be competitive every year.

"It is clear at a time like this we need patience and I think the fans will see commitment. I am optimistic for the future of Milan."

Victory over Fiorentina still leaves Milan in 12th place in Serie A and Seedorf admits he is refusing to get carried away with the win.

"As a coach you feel different emotions," he added. The heart must be less strong than when you're a player. You manage your emotions better.

"We need to remember that at some points we haven't got the points we deserved from games and then we've had positive results and not followed them up with consistency.

"But we've played well in our last two games and I ask the boys to show me the same as they have done against Lazio and Fiorentina."
