Perez claims Bale cost €91m

Perez claims Bale cost €91m
The Blancos president has denied that the Spanish giants paid €100 million for the Welshman, meaning Cristiano Ronaldo remains the world's most expensive player
Florentino Perez has claimed that Real Madrid paid €91m to bring Gareth Bale to the Santiago Bernabeu during the summer.

It has been widely reported that the Spanish giants handed over a world-record €100 million for the Wales international - but the Blancos president has now stated otherwise.

"Bale is insured for €91m, which is the amount he cost," Perez told Intereconomia.

That figure means that Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo remains the world's most expensive player, with the Portuguese superstar having cost €94m when he moved to the Spanish capital from Manchester United in 2009

Falcao: Real Madrid? I'm happy at Monaco

Falcao: Real Madrid? I'm happy at Monaco
The Colombia international has stressed that he is not thinking about a transfer back to La Liga, claiming he is perfectly content at the Stade Louis II
Radamel Falcao has insisted that he is happy with life at Monaco amidst reports linking him with a transfer to Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Madrid president Florentino Perez stated earlier this week that the Santiago Bernabeu side remain interested in signing the prolific hitman after missing out on him during the summer transfer window, but the Colombia international is not thinking about leaving the Stade Louis II.

"I can only thank Florentino Perez for what he's said, but I must respect my current club Monaco, where I am feeling very well," Falcao said at a press conference.

"I am very happy at Monaco. This is not the right time to talk about Real Madrid's potential interest in me out of respect for my current club."

The 27-year-old has developed into a key player at Monaco since joining the club from Atletico Madrid ahead of the 2013-14 campaign.

Falcao's contract with Monaco is due to expire in the summer of 2018.

Inter fans should not expect signings like Bale, says Moratti

Inter fans should not expect signings like Bale, says Moratti

The former Nerazzurri supremo has warned the fans that this week's takeover does not necessarily mean they will now start splashing the cash
Inter president Massimo Moratti has moved to downplay expectations following the arrival of Erick Thohir as the club's new owner.

The Giuseppe Meazza side had been struggling financially in recent years, partially due to the introduction of Financial Fair Play, but the arrival of the Indonesian businessman has sparked hopes that the Nerazzurri will be a force to be reckoned with again in the transfer market.

However, Moratti does not expect the club's new owner to make any high-profile signings in the near future.

"The kind of transfer that really speaks to the supporters is, for example, Real Madrid's signing of Bale, but Inter fans should not expect things like that," Moratti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I get the impression that Thohir has different plans with Inter. Obviously, the competition with rival teams might influence the club's policy. They have the potential to do great things."

Moratti lured high-profile players such as Ronaldo, Wesley Sneijder, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Samuel Eto'o to Inter during his time in charge of the Nerazzurri.

Pakistan prime minister dissolves PCB

The Prime Minister of Pakistan and new Patron of the PCB, Nawaz Sharif, has dissolved the governing board of the PCB, and formed a five-member interim management committee (IMC) to run cricket in the country. The PCB's acting chairman Najam Sethi‚ former chairman Shahryar Khan, former players Zaheer Abbas and Haroon Rasheed, former team manager Naved Cheema were appointed to the committee.
The IMC was directed by Sharif to elect one of its members as chairman, and the committee unanimously chose Sethi, who has been acting as caretaker chairman since July and will represent Pakistan at the ICC board meeting on October 18 and 19 in London.
"The Patron of PCB, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, has been pleased to direct the following: 1. Paragraph Section 41 of PCB Constitution has been amended and under the said paragraphs the board has been superseded," the PCB said in a release. "An Interim Management Committee (IMC) has been constituted to ensure that PCB remains enabled to continue to perform day-to-day domestic and international functions for the promotion of the game and in line with the directions of the court."
The dissolution was the outcome of an issue that began with the Islamabad High Court's judgement on a constitutional writ petition challenging the election of the previous PCB chairman, Zaka Ashraf, who was then suspended and replaced temporarily by Sethi for a 90-day term. Sethi, a senior journalist and former caretaker chief minister of Punjab, also ran into trouble with the courts, with another judgement severely curtailing his powers. The court had set a deadline of October 18 for the PCB to hold fresh elections for chairman but the PCB wasn't able to comply.
The reason best known to ESPNcricinfo for the noncompliance was an incomplete electoral college of many regional associations in Punjab - the largest province in the country - and the refusal of the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold the elections. The PCB had written three letters to the Election Commission in compliance with the court order but it learned the commission can not carry out the election of an autonomous body. The PCB has appealed against the judgement of the Islamabad court but the appeal has been pending since July 25.
