President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has announced support worth $10 million to the victims of super typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
“The UAE extends its deepest sympathies for the loss of life and stands by the people of the Philippines in these tragic circumstances,” a statement said.
Sheikh Khalifa also stated that the international community must stand together in times like these.
Typhoon Haiyan raced across a string of islands from east to west - Samar, Leyte, Cebu and Panay- and lashed beach communities with over 200 kph (125 mph) per hour winds. Nearly 720,000 people were forced to evacuate their homes.
