LOS ANGELES: Actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who recently announced her split from husband Chris Martin, is still wearing her wedding ring.
Paltrow released a photograph on son Moses Bruce Paltrow Martin’s eighth birthday in which her ring was visible, reports mirror.co.uk.
“Moses Bruce Paltrow Martin turns 8 today. We love you,” the 41-year-old actress posted with the photograph.
She married Martin in 2003, and they recently announced their split via her GOOP website. However, it is said that she wanted to keep the split a secret.
The Coldplay musician made his first major public appearance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in New York City since announcing his split from Paltrow weeks ago on Thursday.
While presenting Genesis star Peter Gabriel onstage, Martin was not wearing his wedding ring and appeared to be in high spirits.

Did you know? : Jared Leto’s Oscar is a filthy mess

Jared Leto doesn’t care much for material things. At least, not for his Oscar, as the trophy has been handed out by the actor at multiple parties for people to hold and pose with. According to reports, Leto’s Oscar is full of scratches and bumps and as a result, is now a “filthy mess.”
“I damaged it. But then I came home and saw it had another nick on it. So it looks like someone else had fun with it, too. My Oscar is a filthy mess,” contactmusic.com. quoted the singor-actor as saying.
“Everybody was pawing that thing. I kind of was just passing it around at parties. A couple of times I lost sight of it and I thought, you know, if it goes away, it’s not meant to be mine. But it always seemed to find its way back to me,” he added.
The 42-year-old also added that he is getting a lot more opportunities in Hollywood following his Oscar win, but the coveted gold statue itself doesn’t mean that much to him.
Leto won the Oscar for best supporting actor at the 86th annual Academy awards earlier this year, for his role as a transgender drug addict Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club

Gaga uses tape to shape face in bid to look younger despite risking permanent damage

LOS ANGELES: Singer Lady Gaga uses facelift tape to pull the skin around her cheekbones and neck in a bid to look younger.
The 28-year-old singer says she uses the sticky stuff most of the days to help shape her face, even if she risks damaging it, reports mirror.co.uk.
Explaining her morning ritual, the “Poker Face” singer said: “When I have my wig cap on and I’m taping my face, it’s a sort of meditation for me. Every day, it starts the same way. It’s like a mantra.”
“Looking artificial can be honest. Being glamorous can come from a place of authenticity and a place of love,” she added.
London-based plastic surgeon Jeya Prakash advises against the daily taping regime, saying it could cause permanent damage to her face including internal scarring.
Prakash said: “By taping your face tight, you are reducing the circulation which means there are less nutrients getting to the skin, so abnormal collagen will be produced.
“This is like internal scarring as different types of cells form the skin – like with a scar. In the long term, it will speed up the ageing process.”

X-Men' director hit by sex abuse lawsuit weeks before premiere

LOS ANGELES: A man who has sued filmmaker Bryan Singer, the director of the upcoming blockbuster action film “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” for allegedly raping him as a teenager said on Thursday that his claims of sexual abuse went unheeded by authorities.
Michael Egan, 31, who was an aspiring teen actor, said he and his mother told the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI in late 1999 and 2000 that Egan was being abused by an underage sex ring.
“What happened was basically it fell on deaf ears,” Egan said at a news conference seated next to his attorney, Jeff Herman. “We didn’t get anywhere and then I basically buried it in me as deep as I possibly could.”
Herman filed a civil lawsuit on Wednesday in federal court in Hawaii, alleging that Singer, 48, used his influence as a Hollywood insider as well as a range of drugs and alcohol to force anal and oral sex on Egan while promising him film roles.
Singer’s attorney, Marty Singer, has called the claims “completely fabricated.” The LAPD said it does not comment on current litigation.
The lawsuit comes weeks before Singer’s “X-Men” film opens in US theaters on May 23. It could complicate the global promotion rollout for distributor 20th Century Fox by pushing the director’s legal problem to the forefront of what is expected to be one of the year’s top-grossing films.
The film starring Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence is projected to gross $103 million in its opening weekend, according to Boxoffice.com.
“We look forward to our bringing a claim for malicious prosecution against Mr. Egan and his attorney after we prevail,” Singer’s attorney said in a statement after the news conference.
Egan said he brought the suit now after going through trauma therapy, which he began 11 months ago.
“I was raped numerous times in that house by numerous individuals,” Egan said. “You were like a piece of meat to these people. They’d pass you around between them.”
Fox calls case ‘personal matter’
Singer, who directed “X-Men” in 2000 and its sequel “X2” in 2003, is also signed on to direct the next installment in the franchise, “X-Men: Apocalypse,” for Fox. The film is scheduled to be released in 2016.
“These are serious allegations, and they will be resolved in the appropriate forum,” Fox said in a statement. “This is a personal matter, which Bryan Singer and his representatives are addressing separately.”
Egan seeks unspecified damages and a jury trial after wide-ranging abuses at California and Hawaii house parties beginning in the late 1990s, according to the civil action.
“Mike was being influenced by wanting to be in the business,” Herman said. The attorney added that the lawsuit was filed now because in Hawaii legal limitations require a civil child sex abuse case to be filed by April 24.
“Hollywood moguls have been using their positions of authority to exploit children sexually,” said Herman, who is noted for his representation of sex abuse victims, having filed suits against the Roman Catholic Church and Kevin Clash, the former voice of Sesame Street character Elmo.
The lawsuit accuses Marc Collins-Rector, a former entertainment business executive and registered sex offender, of initiating the sexual abuse by arranging for Singer to meet Egan at “notorious parties” in Encino, California, around 1998.
Egan alleged liquor would be poured down his throat at the parties and that Collins-Rector once threatened him by putting a gun in his mouth. Collins-Rector could not be reached for comment and is not listed as a defendant in the suit.

Words of gratitude from senior Bachchan

Amitabh’s larger-than-life persona has earned him the status of an unprecedented icon for the public. PHOTO: REUTERS/FILE
KARACHI:
In a move that will hopefully augur well for the Indo-Pak peace process, Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain invited Amitabh Bachchan to visit Pakistan, where the megastar’s ancestral roots can be traced back to. “Since your mother was born and bred in the Faisalabad district of Punjab, you should come here and visit the places where your mother spent time. Your visit will also promote peace between the two countries,” he wrote to Amitabh.
Expressing his gratitude on receiving the invitation, Amitabh recently wrote back to the Senator. Although the letter is careful both in tone and content, it is inarguably a great gesture on Amitabh’s part. In the letter, he shares the fond memories he has of Pakistani people, recalling the prayers that they extended to him during his injury on the sets of Coolie (1983).
The superstar hasn’t specified a date or even stated ‘if’ he will be visiting the country soon.
But if Amitabh was to visit, what could it mean for his fans in both India and Pakistan? Amitabh’s larger-than-life persona has earned him the status of an unprecedented icon for the public. Interestingly, many people live vicariously through their idols in the industry; they internalise the experiences of those who they admire. Amitabh’s visit would expectedly help in neutralising the image of both the countries in the eyes of their people.

In an earlier interview with Express News, Amitabh shared, “I would love to see an exchange of artistes between India and Pakistan. You (Pakistan) could learn something from us (India) and we could learn something from you. This would benefit everyone.”
Over the past few months, there has been an inflow of notable Indian artistes in Pakistan. Veteran actors Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri are among those who recently visited the country in an attempt to strengthen the often challenging Indo-Pak relationship.
As mascots of change, they called for peaceful co-existence with unswerving faith. Not only are their efforts appreciable, but also timely. Amid rising concerns that the expected victory of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in the ongoing Indian general elections won’t bode well for Pakistan, cultural diplomacy has become more important than ever.
So, we hope that Amitabh graces the people of Pakistan with his presence soon
