Now US thinks for mandatory car-to-car wireless communication system

US-car-to-car-wireless-commWASHINGTON – The government believes vehicle-to-vehicle data links will help improve driver safety, and will push for legislation requiring it in “a future year.”
The US government will work to enable wireless communication links between cars, technology it expects will reduceaccidents and, eventually, decrease fuel consumption and speed travel.
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration said Monday it’s finalizing a report on the subject based on a 3,000-vehicle study of vehicle-to-vehicle communications that began in Ann Arbor, Mich., in 2012. That report should be released in the coming weeks — and then the Department of Transportation’s push for using V2V technology in cars and light trucks will get serious.
“NHTSA will then begin working on a regulatory proposal that would require V2V devices in new vehicles in a future year,” the agency said. “DOT believes that the signal this announcement sends to the market will significantly enhance development of this technology and pave the way for market penetration of V2V safety applications.”
V2V communications use a variation of the 802.11 wireless network standard used by laptops and mobile phones, but instead link cars, which can share position and speed information with each other 10 times per second. That can let one car reliably detect when another in front is braking hard for example:-
V2V technology initially will assist drivers, but NHTSA is considering linking it to “active safety technologies that rely on on-board sensors.” That could let a car brake or steer to avoid a collision without driver involvement A related technology, V2I, links vehicles to infrastructure like traffic signals. That ultimately could be used to help coordinate traffic flow better.
Neither V2V nor V2I technology is required for self-driving cars, but both would help by giving a car specific data about its surroundings.
One tricky part of V2V and V2I communications is that another branch of the US government, the Federal Communications Commission, is considering whether to release some radio spectrum for general use that’s currently dedicated only for vehicular communications.

Sri Lankan Wicket Keeper achieves three batting milestones

Sangakkara batting records
Kumar Chokshanada Sangakkara Sri Lankan international cricketer and a former captain of the Sri Lankan national team, is widely regarded as the greatest batsman produced by Sri Lanka.
Sangakkara is described as one of the “most polished and prudent of batsmen” in cricket and he really proved it by making record of records.
He owned many records in the test against Bangladesh hitting a Test triple century in first inning and a century in second inning to  become the second batsman who achieved this milestone and the first from Sri Lanka side.
A former England batsman Graham Gooch has this unique contribution in cricket history.
He also becomes the 5th batsman who scored the most number of centuries. Moreover, he also become the 3rd highest scorer in a single match by scoring 424 runs.
Former England batsman Graham Gooch scored 456 runs (333 and 123) against India at Lord’s in 1990,
Then, in 1998 at Peshawar, Australia’s Mark Taylor scored 426 wickets (334 and 92 runs).
From Pakistan side, Younis Khan achieved this milestone against India at Banglore in 2005 by scoring 351 runs, the most runs in a match.

BMW Is First With Laser Lights As The 2015 i8 Enters Production

fra-bmw-i8-6_6532015-bmw-i8-laser-headlights_100456975_l
BMW’s cars already have a distinctive look in your rear-view mirror with their angel-eye headlights and that view will soon start to look even more distinct. That’s because the automaker is now offering new laser headlights on its cars, starting with the 2015 i8 sports car which has just entered production and due on sale later this year priced from $135,925 with shipping
Laser lights offer a number of advantages over the best lighting technology available on cars today, LED lighting. LEDs themselves already offer several advantages in terms of light output, energy use and finer control over incandescent or gas discharge lighting and lasers take that a step further.
Laser light is a different kind of light to that of regular light, as it’s monochromatic–the light being produced only has one wavelength, rather than a color spectrum. In headlight use, several high-performance diodes emit a strongly bundled beam via special lenses onto a fluorescent phosphorus substance inside the headlight (see images above). This substance transforms the beam into an exceptionally bright white light that’s more intensive than conventional lightsources
As a result the light can reach as far as 600 meters or double the range of LEDs, and the beam pattern can be controlled very precisely, instantly and safely. In addition, laser lights consume around 30 percent less energy than already highly power-saving LEDs and the diodes are ten times smaller. This helps to save not only available installation space inside the headlight, but also weight–the size of the reflector surface can be reduced by a factor of up to ten vs. LEDs.
To ensure no one gets blinded, the lights work together with BMW’s camera-aided digital high-beam assistant, which dims the light if it detects an oncoming car or another car up front.
While other automakers have promised to deliver the technology, BMW is the first to actually offer it on one of its cars. Note, the standard i8 is equipped with full LED headlights. BMW is offering the laser light as option, and only for the high-beam at present. In the coming years, more BMW models will be available with laser lights.

Inside-out corruption of Imran Khan

Inside-out corruption of Imran Khan | PakistanTribeIf we say that whatever mandate PTI got in the general elections last year was solely because of Imran Khan’s firm and clear stand against the corruption, it wouldn’t be wrong.
The educated and privileged youth of the country went to support Imran only because of the promises he made, during his election campaign. But as we reflect on the track record of PTI and Imran Khan we only witness ‘Change’. Not exactly the change which Imran promised to the nation but a change that nobody could have imagined in his worst of nightmares.
Starting from Taliban apology to blocking NATO supplies and then representing TTP unofficially Imran Khan has always let down his followers. That is the basic reason, Imran seems to be losing the fan base that he gathered up in the last five to six years in a matter of months. His supporters and voters seem to be losing hope in him and the youth especially first-time voters have been left in limbo with nowhere else to go.
There was nothing surprising about Imran’s ascent in the political arena. People were tired of the same old faces, the same broken promises and needed a new ideal to latch on to. Consequently, most people followed Imran blindly, without giving any consideration to his political agenda and his views on important national issues. They gave him a ‘prophetical’ status, rallied for him, enrolled in the ‘Tabdeeli Razakar’ program and did what any patriotic Pakistani would have done. However, what the patriots did not realize was that the hype around Imran would soon fizzle out and things would go back to ground zero.
The most recent corruption scandal that has jolted the roots of PTI and placed a big question mark of Imran Khan’s character, is the missing 3 million US$, which were collected in the name of membership fund from the overseas Pakistanis, and no one knows what Imran did with the money. This news could be taken as authentic because the scam is revealed by a founding member of PTI itself, who claims that Imran Khan has misused his powers to such an extent that now he doesn’t have any other option left but to unmask the real Imran Khan.
Perhaps Imran and his supporters need to travel back in time and assess when things started falling apart.
Flash back:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was making waves and both, the young and old were flocking together to join the latest craze that was Imran Khan. He won the hearts of many with his charisma, fiery speeches, promises for a better Pakistan and open challenges to Mian Sahib and Zardari. He ignited political fervor in the rural areas as well as the urban, in the young as well as the old, in the illiterate as well as the educated.
Attending a PTI jalsa became the thing to do and people did only in the hope of seeing a changed Pakistan. PTI supporters wreaked havoc on social media too and a word against Imran would bring a barrage of insults your way. Then came May 11, 2013, when people woke up with hope in their eyes and patriotism in their hearts. Pakistani expatriates flew all the way to Pakistan to cast votes in favor of PTI and Imran, hoping for a change. He was claimed to be the only savior for this nation.
Where did things go wrong?:
It is now clear that Imran Khan lacks political foresight and flexibility. His first major mistake was to lock horns with none other than the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). A little understanding, seat adjustment and alliance with the largest political party in Karachi could have given PTI a chance to establish itself and implement its manifesto which, by the way, was very much in line with the manifesto of MQM.
Imran was over-confident and thoroughly mistaken in assuming that he would be an overnight success in Karachi alone. Rigging or no rigging, PTI failed to cause any considerable dent in the vote bank of MQM, and the following by-elections, under surveillance of the army, gave credence to the fact that PTI was losing its popularity fast in this part of Pakistan.
His second crucial blunder was to team up with the Taliban and support their recent demand for opening up offices for the militants. His main stream followers are mostly educated elite and students, who cannot under any circumstances, support this stance, and this is fast causing a slump in his popularity.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), where PTI enjoys complete control, has seen no improvement and there seems to be no proper road map laid down by the chief minister and his team. Instead, the blood-thirsty Taliban are being given an opportunity to further implement their agendas.
What makes matters worse is that Imran Khan is running the show as a dictator, and even his own party members are not privy to his policies and decisions. Just recently, a statement made by Khan regarding the opening of a Taliban office has been completely disowned by his party member, Asad Umar who claimed that this was a personal wish of the Khan, and does not reflect the party’s official view.
Imran Khan who once rallied against nepotism, is now giving priority to the relatives and friends of main stream PTI leaders over common workers, for different party positions. it seems that PTI has become like any conventional Pakistani political party where affiliations are preferred over merit.
Suggestions for damage control:
It is obvious that PTI needs damage control and needs it fast. Instead of crying over rigged cases, PTI founding members need to set up an internal audit of the party funds and if Imran Khan pleads guilty in the corruption scam, he should resign from the party chairman as per his promise or PTI CEC should sack him for misusing his powers, which seems to be the only way out for the PTI. Because if PTI will not follow the policy of self accountability, then its quite obvious that Imran Khan will take the party to a new low and the dreams of PTI Youth will be shatters forever.
Corruption is worse than prostitution. The latter might endanger the morals of an individual, the former invariably endangers the morals of the entire country. Karl Marx

Mourinho: I don’t respect Wenger’s past

Mourinho: I don’t respect Wenger’s past
The Chelsea boss has fanned the flames once more as he brushed off the Frenchman's accomplishments during his time with Arsenal
Jose Mourinho has refused to back down in his war of words with Arsene Wenger, stating that he does not respect the Frenchman's past accomplishments.

Mourinho has had a series of run-ins with the Arsenal boss over the years and reignited the tension on Friday, labelling Wenger a "specialist in failure" - referring to the Gunners' eight-and-a-half-year run without silverware.

The barb was aimed at Wenger after the 64-year-old said it was about time Chelsea were seen as the title favourites, suggesting Mourinho's fear of failure was the reason he continually plays down expectations around the club.

Yet Mourinho refused to quell the storm, telling ITV prior to Chelsea's 2-0 loss at Manchester City: "When he says that I am afraid of failure he is not respecting my past and because he does not respect this I do not respect his past.

"That’s my answer. It’s an answer that doesn’t make me happy, but an answer that I think he deserves."

The Blues were defeated convincingly by Manchester City on Saturday evening, as goals from Stevan Jovetic and Samir Nasri dumped Mourinho's team out of the FA Cup.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are still chasing that elusive piece of silverware and host Liverpool in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

PELLEGRINI INTENT ON BRINGING ISCO TO MANCHESTER
Manchester City’s failure to sign Spanish starlet Isco in the summer has almost been forgotten amid an avalanche of goals but the Real Madrid playmaker remains very much on the Premier League club’s radar.

Alvaro Negredo has been an unqualified success since signing from Sevilla, while the continued excellence of David Silva and Sergio Aguero, allied to Samir Nasri’s improvement, has seen City amass over 100 goals in all competitions this season.

Still, however, manager Manuel Pellegrini remains frustrated at the failure to secure the services of a player whose career he helped develop during the time they spent together at Malaga.

After an electric start to his career with the Spanish giants, Isco has found regular starting opportunities hard to come by and has started four of his side’s last five games from the substitutes’ bench.

Carlo Ancelotti has struggled to accommodate Isco in his 4-3-3 formation and there is increasing talk that the player and Madrid are ready to part company if the situation does not improve with City closely monitoring the situation.

Isco had originally agreed to join up again with his former manager in the summer but City refused to get involved in a bidding war with Real Madrid or pay significant agent fees.

Madrid paid €30 million for Isco and might be prepared to do business with City, although Pellegrini's side will not entertain any approach for Aguero or Silva.

SHEIKH MANSOUR TO ATTEND BARCELONA CLASH

MAN CITY LATEST
11/8Man City are 11/8 with William Hill to progress past Barcelona
It is a measure of the significance of Manchester City’s Champions League heavyweight clash with Barcelona that the club’s owner Sheikh Mansour could be in attendance at the Etihad on Wednesday.

The Abu Dhabi royal family member is a busy politician across the wider Emirates and has been to see his £1 billion investment only once since he took over the club back in September 2008, to watch City beat Liverpool 3-0 at the Etihad in 2010.

But a private Royal charter, carrying family members and friends from the region, is scheduled to land in Manchester on the day of the game.

Security is tight-lipped and City will only discover a few hours before if Mansour will be able to make the trip.

The billionaire has not missed a single game since he took control, having City games beamed live to wherever he is in the world.
