Taylor Swift didn’t fit in on catwalk

Taylor Swift didn’t fit in on catwalk
Taylor Swift 'didn't fit in' on the Victoria's Secret catwalk, according to model Jessica Hart.
The 23-year-old singer performed at the annual fashion show in New York on Wednesday (13.11.13), but Australian lingerie model Jessica wasn't impressed by her on the runway.
Asked if the leggy 'I Knew You Were Trouble' star could pull it off as a Victoria's Secret model, Jessica replied bluntly: 'No.'
Speaking to Women's Wear Daily at the after show party at New York hotspot Tao, she said: 'I think, you know what, God bless her heart. I think she's great. But I don't know, to me, she didn't fit. I don't know if I should say that.
'I think what you find is that for a lot of us, we've been working for 14, 15 years, what it takes to make it here comes from experience and confidence and knowing how to be confident with yourself.
'I think it comes with age. It's definitely the benchmark of all jobs.'
Although Jessica wasn't a fan of Taylor, model Karlie Kloss was a bit star struck by her performance, wearing a Union Jack print mini-dress, accompanied with a matching train and top hat.
The 21-year-old model said: 'She and I need to be best friends!'
'I think she's the coolest young girl. She's a great role model, and I love her music. It's happening. I mean, girl power.'
Victoria's Secret model Lily Aldridge, 28, agreed with Karlie, she said: '[Taylor] is one of my best friends, so we had so much fun

US firm claims first 3D-printed metal gun

US firm claims first 3D-printed metal gun
LOS ANGELES: A Californian engineering company says it has produced the first metal gun made on a3D printing, releasing a video showing the firearm scoring repeated bullseyes in successful tests.
But Solid Concepts, which describes itself as a world leader of 3D printing services, said making the classic 1911 shotgun did not come cheap, requiring a lot more than a souped-up desktop printer.
"It functions beautifully," it said of the gun, in a blog accompanying the video clips. "Our resident gun expert has fired 50 successful rounds and hit a few bull's eyes at over 30 yards (meters).
The gun comprises more than 30 3D-printed components, including stainless steel and other metal parts.
"The whole concept of using a laser sintering process to 3D print a metal gun revolves around proving the reliability, accuracy and usability of 3D metal printing," said Solid Concepts' vice president Kent Firestone.
"We're working to change people's perspective," he added from the company's base in Valencia, 30 miles (48 kilometers) northwest of Los Angeles.
The 3D printer they use does not come cheap.
"This isn't about desktop printers... the industrial printer we used costs more than my college tuition -- and I went to a private university," said Firestone.
"And the engineers who run our machines are top of the line; they are experts who know what they're doing and understand 3D printing better than anyone in this business."
The use of 3D printing technology to manufacture weapons is not new. But making them out of metal is.
Earlier this year computer files allowing someone to make a single-shot Liberator gun were downloaded more than 100,000 times from Defense Distributed, an open-source website dedicated to 3D printable gun components.
The State Department, which oversees US weapons exports, ordered the blueprints to be taken off the Internet in May -- but by that point, users had already reposted them widely on various file-sharing sites.
But Solid Concepts said its system is legal, claiming that they are the only 3D printing service provider with a Federal Firearms License.
"Now, if a qualifying customer needs a unique gun part in five days, we can deliver," the company said said.
"We have the right materials, and the right engineers who know how to best program and maintain these machines, to make 3D printing accurate, powerful and here to stay

Apple working on curved iPhone screens, enhanced sensors: report

Apple working on curved iPhone screens, enhanced sensors: report
(Reuters) - Apple Inc is developing new iPhone designs including bigger screens with curved glass and enhanced sensors that can detect different levels of pressure, Bloomberg reported on Sunday, citing a unnamed person familiar with the plans.
With screens of 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, the two new models would be Apple's largest iPhones, the person told Bloomberg.
The new handsets are still in development and plans haven't been completed, Bloomberg said citing the person, adding Apple probably would release them in the third quarter of next year.
Two spokeswomen for the Cupertino, California-based technology company did not immediately respond to requests from Reuters seeking comment.

Klopp: Everything went against Dortmund

Klopp: Everything went against Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp has rued his side's bad luck in Saturday's 2-1 loss to Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena.
The Ruhr giants slumped to their second defeat this week thanks to an Ivica Olic wonder-strike in a match which saw Neven Subotic stretchered off with a serious-looking injury.
With Bayern Munich winning 3-0 against Augsburg - a Bundesliga record - Dortmund fell further behind in the title race with this loss, and the 46-year-old believes that fortune abandoned his troops in every 50-50 situation in the match.
'It was a tight game,' he is quoted as saying by the club's official website.
'During the first half, we had some, but too few, good moments. We often built well, but made it too easy for the opponent.
'Nevertheless, we scored a great free kick for the first goal and came out of the dressing-room well and were really in the game, with the second goal coming.
'But then [Ricardo] Rodriguez came with a great free kick and Olic scored a wonder-goal. We tried everything, but everything went against us in tight situations.'
Initial reports have suggested that Subotic has torn his anterior cruciate ligament.

PARIS: France were facing World Cup elimination on Friday after slumping to a 2-0 play-off first-leg defeat in Ukraine while Cristiano Ronaldo kept Portugal’s hopes alive with the only goal in a 1-0 win over Sweden.
Former European champions Greece were left sleeping comfortably on their hopes of making the finals in Brazil after beating Romania 3-1.
Meanwhile, Iceland’s dream of becoming the smallest nation ever to qualify for the World Cup was left on a knife-edge after a 0-0 draw at home with Croatia.
France have it all to do in the second leg in Paris on Tuesday after defeat in Kiev meant they face missing out on the World Cup for the first time in two decades.
Roman Zozulia gave Ukraine a deserved lead in the 61st minute at the 70,000-capacity Olympic Stadium in Kiev and Andriy Yarmolenko made it 2-0 from the penalty spot with eight minutes left after Laurent Koscielny had brought down Zozulia inside the area.
Ukraine were worthy of their win and, having denied France an away goal, can now consider themselves strong favourites to go through to their second World Cup finals.
“We’re not beaten yet, there’s always hope,” said France goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris. “We know we have enough quality to turn it around.”
Ronaldo overshadows Ibrahimovic
At Lisbon’s Stadium of Light, Ronaldo edged Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the battle of potential World Cup superstars, scoring a late diving header which gave Portugal a 1-0 win over Sweden.
The Real Madrid star headed past Sweden goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson in the 82nd minute from six yards out after a fine left-wing cross from Miguel Veloso.
But the Portuguese had to settle for a one-goal edge ahead of the second leg in Stockholm, where star striker Ibrahimovic will be key to helping Sweden to the finals in Brazil next year after a low-key performance on Friday.
“It was an important goal and it gave us victory,” said Ronaldo. “We could have scored one or two more goals but this advantage gives us confidence for the second leg.
“Nothing is settled yet. It’s 50-50. I cannot promise that we will qualify but I will do all I can to achieve it.”

Watson confident of playing in Test

Shane Watson hopes to be fit for both batting and bowling in the first Ashes test. PHOTO: AFP
BRISBANE:
Australia’s Shane Watson said Saturday he was confident of playing in next week’s Ashes series opener against England but was unsure whether he would be able to bowl.
Watson completed light running drills before another lengthy batting nets session on Saturday as he recovers from a hamstring injury ahead of the first Gabba Test starting on Thursday.
The all-rounder said he held out hope that he could bowl in Brisbane but would await the opinion of team doctor Peter Brukner.
“He has certainly given me great advice over the last six months especially with my body,” said Watson.
“I am confident I will be there as a batsman. To play as a bowler would be an ideal scenario. From previous experiences I will err on the side of caution. But if my body is right to go that’s what I will be doing [bowling].”
But team bowling coach Craig McDermott was not too sure about Watson’s chances of bowling if he played in the Gabba Test.
“We will wait until the day before the game to see where he is with his bowling,” he said.
However, McDermott was unconcerned at the prospect of not using Watson in his attack after watching left-arm paceman Mitchell Johnson tear into the Brisbane nets over the past two days.
“I like where Mitchell is at the moment from an attitude or head space point of view and his pace and seam position,” said McDermott.
